Traditional Music Around Oxford

Oxford Folk Club

Every Friday, 8:30 p.m, at The Port Mahon, St Clements Street, Oxford.

The club alternates booked guests with open nights where anyone can have a go. Guests have included national stars like Dave Swarbrick, Jez Lowe, Andy Irvine and Martin Carthy, as well as many local heros like John Spiers & Jon Boden, Ian Giles, Graham Metcalf and Three Pressed Men.

The Port Mahon is on the corner of Jeune Street and Saint Clement's Street - here's a map. There is limited street parking on St Clement's St, or a public car park on the north side of St Clement's St, behind the Angel & Greyhound pub, near to the roundabout known as The Plain. (50p flat rate every evening).

Here are time-tables for Stagecoach and Oxford City busses. Amongst others, Stagecoach route 7A and Oxford City routes 2 and 400 (Thornhill Park & Ride service) pass the pub and run until midnight on Fridays. Ask for "St Clement's".

For information contact Pam Cooper (pamcooper@hotmail.com) or see their web site which includes a useful sessions page.
